2005 Season - Week 7

Trading Day 1

During Trading Day 25 players were cut prior to week 6. 2 owners (Daz and Cheryl) cut 4 players each - half their teams! whilst 3 owners (Wayne, Ron and Dave G) decided their drafts were good and stuck with their original line ups. Smartest looking move so far as all are 2 TD’s up - Aaron after replacing Moe Williams with Thomas Jones, David S replacing Kevin Faulk with Ronnie Brown, Johnny (Reche Caldwell out, Kevin Curtis in) and Andy H with Mike Anderson replacing Reuben Droughns. If you have since decided you should have changed other players in your team you will have to wait until Sunday November 20th just prior to week 11 when Trading Day 2 will take place at BUMS HQ before to Sky’s doubleheader. Hall of Fame Nominations It’s time to put 4 more players in the Marbled Halls. Attached are the 10 men who have been chosen for nomination. Select your favourite 5 players (in order) and once all the votes are in I will announce who will join the likes of Favre, Peyton, Emmitt, Faulk, Moss, Rice and Owens in the Hall of Fame. In the Owners Hall of Fame Cheryl missed out by 1 point this week from making her third appearance after Alge Crumpler was kept out of the endzone on Monday Night. Goodbye to The Grandfather One of the most influential people in the development of the NFL died on Monday. Wellington Mara joined the New York Giants as a Ball Boy in 1925 and 80 years later died as its owner. In the post war era the Mara and Rooney (Pittsburgh) families developed the league and in the 60’s Mara secured the future of the NFL as we know it. Claiming the league was only as strong as its weakest link he agreed to set up a revenue sharing deal across all teams which meant the Giants would have the same income as small market teams like The Packers. I can’t see the new owners like Jerry Jones or Dan Snyder agreeing to such an unselfish act. BUMS on Seats. We will be HQ from 6pm on Sunday to watch 2 divisional matchups, Washington @ Mara’s Giants followed by Kansas City @ San Diego. With the baseball over we will now also get together on Monday evening to see the Sunday Night game (Buffalo @ New England) and then Tuesday evening to see the MNF (Baltimore @ Pittsburgh).
